Performance Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:

manage and monitor rig-up operations on at least two occasions, including:

interpreting well servicing rig up program and communicating to team members

identifying and assigning resources

assessing and implementing work health and safety requirements

establishing effluent disposal systems

coordinating engine power start-up.

During the above, the candidate must:

locate and apply legislation, documentation, policies and procedures required to manage and monitor rig-up operations

work with others to manage and monitor rig-up operations that meet required outcomes, including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating with others to determine coordination requirements throughout work activities.


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:

key legislation required for managing and monitoring rig-up operations

key policies, procedures and established requirements for managing and monitoring rig-up operations, including those for:

establishing and maintaining safe procedures for operating equipment

checking equipment and rectifying and reporting equipment faults

establishing and maintaining rig up procedures

maintaining safe rigging and dogging practices

identifying auxiliary equipment functions and service requirements

specific auxiliary rig up sequence

preparing well control mix fluid

safety and environmental issues

using communication equipment

establishing and preparing for emergency procedures

establishing and maintaining preventative maintenance

adhering to workplace relations and award conditions.
